Richie Culver is a multidisciplinary artist based in London but originally from Hull, a post-industrial city in the Northern part of England. He incorporates elements of nostalgia, humor, and naivety in ways that give each of his sculptures and paintings a work-worn feeling, and his use of autobiographical inspirations communicates a uniquely honest sincerity. In this same way, Culver explores the divide between England’s northern and southern cultures, contrasting his childhood home with the place he’s spent much of his adult life, a split that has become significantly starker in recent years.
