Spoke Art in San Francisco is exhibiting a new series of work by Bay Area-based painter Nadezda, titled Lukomorye. For her inaugural solo exhibition with the gallery, she has created a body of new work that takes the viewer on a fantastical journey to a world of romantic, dark fairytales teeming with hidden mysteries. Influenced by Russian folklore, children’s stories, theatre and beyond, Nadezda’s masterfully executed oil paintings and graphite drawings explore the depths of imagination. As if through a delicate and impassioned dance, the artist’s mark-making is full of movement illuminating figures and their environments.
