Every Takashi Murakami unveiling of new work feels like a major event. And in recent years, as the Japanese artist has become not only a leader in contemporary art but of entire genres of contemporary culture, his shows have taking on even new meanings and anticipation. On October 16th, Murakami will open Baka, his 14th solo show with Perrotin Gallery and this one at the gallery’s homebase of Paris. It’s his first solo in Paris in three years. The exhibition will present about thirty works in Perrotin’s Salle de Bal at 60 rue de Turenne, a showroom that is usually closed to the public and only available to visit by appointment.
